President of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, publicly reprimanded his colleague, Redcliff Constituency Member of Parliament, Lloyd Mukapiko, over his usage of hate speech at a rally at Mbizo Stadium today.
Mukapiko, who was invited on stage by Chamisa, unleashed a scathing tirade against the ruling party, Zanu PF, and his competitor July Moyo, referring to them as “dogs” and “snakes.”
“July Moyo will change his name to August we will defeat him as we did in the last election. President what you said is what is happening in Redcliff, a dog is a dog and a snake is a snake. Mnangagwa is politicising…,” said Mukapiko before Chamisa interjected.
Responding swiftly Chamisa took the microphone from Mukapiko, emphasizing that the party does not condone hate speech or the derogatory labeling of individuals.
Chamisa said that the CCC stands for peace and unity, believing in a respectful and constructive approach to politics.
“As CCC we do not endorse hate speech and name calling. As CCC we pride ourselves in promoting harmonious relations and constructive dialogue. We do not use language like that we use respectful language and we respectfully differ with Mnangagwa. Our language is different from that of Zanu PF, we are totally different from them. We should continue to be a people of decorum,” said Chamisa.
Chamisa said CCC is a political party that strives for respectful discourse and avoids inflammatory hate speech.
The CCC president also said the party failed to hold a rally in Redcliff after Mukapiko allegedly failed to write a letter to the police notifying them.
“Mukapiko you failed to write a letter to the police notifying them of the intention to hold a rally in Redcliff. This is why we are having a rally in Kwekwe Central Constituency today,” he said.
