A 34-year-old man died after he was pushed and hit his head by a friend with whom he was playing around.

Unity Maseko died after he fell during a monkey game with his friend Mtabisi Ndebele (18) on 12 August 2023 at a mine in Village Nkala under Chief Malisa, Silobela.

Police confirmed the incident and the arrest of the teen

“It is alleged that the now deceased Unity Maseko (34) and the suspect Mtabisi Ndebele (18) were at their work playing and pushing each other. Maseko lost balance and hit his head on a generator and sustained a head injury.

He was rushed to hospital around 0300 hours the following day after his condition deteriorated. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police observed that the deceased had a swollen head,” said Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

Mahoko said investigations are still underway.
