The Civil Protection Unit (CPU) is ready to deal with flooding disasters.
Addressing journalists at the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction national commemorations at Kwekwe Polytechnic today, CPU Chief Director Nathan Nkomo said they have come up with a plan to deal with disasters amongst them flooding.
Parts of Midlands Province, particularly Gokwe North has been ravaged by natural disasters such as flooding and Nkomo said they have put in place plans to avert disaster as the rainy season approaches.

“Right now what prompted us to come up with a disaster risk management plan is the fast-approaching rainy season. Hydro-meteorological hazards are quite a lot in Midlands in particular Gokwe North is susceptible to a lot of flooding due to several factors,” he said.
He added that the preparations are cascading to all levels of government administration.
“We need to prepare our district and sub-national structures for any eventuality,” he said.
