Five daring armed robbers pounced on a Redcliff family today around 1:30am after they broke into their home getting away with property worth US$2000.

The robbers it is said forced entry into 10 Quorn Road, Redcliff, the home of a gold miner Tafadzwa Mushikiri.

According to sources who spoke to this publication, the robbers armed with a gun and a machete wearing balaclavas forced entrance into the Mushikiri family home.

It is said that they entered the main bedroom where Jacquiline Mushikiri was sleeping and started demanding cash and valuables, threatening to kill her if she did not comply.

The other robbers started ransacking the house entering into all bedrooms where the family’s four children were sleeping.

The robbers took the family’s cellphones but did not know that Mushikiri had another cellphone which she used to contact a neighbour who in turn notified Redcliff police.

“When police arrived the robbers were still inside the house. When one police detail entered the house, the robbers fired a shot which hit the wall forcing the officer to retreat. The suspects in that moment ran away from the scene,” said the source.

The source said a grey Toyota Wish with two different number plates was found parked near the house.

Police could not confirm the incident by the time of publishing.
