A Kwekwe man employed as a gardener in Msasa suburb has sent shock waves in the city after he allegedly cut off his manhood and ate it as a sandwich with bread on 14 September 2024.

According to sources privy to the case, Panankosi Phiri (19) who was at his employers residence in Bauhnia Street, Msasa on 14 September 2024 around 2000 hours became violent, took a knife, slashed his wrists and started bleeding profusely.

It is said he then went on to cut off his penis before wrapping it with bread and started eating it, sources said.

“He then started calling out the name of his employers 10 year old granddaughter referring her as his wife.

The employer (name hidden to protect the girl) called the police who then ferried Phiri to Kwekwe General Hospital for treatment. At the hospital he kept o calling out the name of the girl raising suspicion,” said the source.

It is said that on 18 September 2024 the police talked to the girl and allegedly discovered that she had been sexually abused by Phiri.

Phiri is said to be currently admitted at Gweru General Hospital where he was transferred to after his condition was declared as serious.

Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko could not be drawn into commenting by time of publishing.
