Kwekwe Polytechnic recently launched an anti-drug and substance abuse, inclusivity, health, and wellness program and a cancer awareness campaign.

The initiative aimed to address critical concerns affecting youth, including substance abuse, peer pressure, and mental health concerns that can derail their potential.

Kwekwe Poly Principal Evans Musara said the drug abuse scourge was affecting youth’s future.

“Substance abuse, peer pressure, and mental health concerns can hijack our youths dreams, damage relationships, compromise physical and mental health, limiting academic and career prospects. The consequences of drug abuse are severe, addiction, dependency, increased risk of violence, crime, broken families and communities.”

Bothwell Moyo, a student at Kwekwe Polytechnic said drug abuse had made tremendous damage in the community

“Drug abuse has ravaged our community, leaving broken homes and shattered dreams. Educating youth on substance abuse dangers and providing support is crucial,” he said.

Musara said community has a role to play in raising breast cancer awareness.

“Let’s work together to educate ourselves and others on breast cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember loved ones. Join us in rejecting drug abuse, promoting inclusivity, and prioritizing health and wellness,” Musara urged.
