By Cordilia Ncube

Gospel musician Minister Johnson, born Johnson Elfas Mahlatini, is set to make waves in the music world with the release of his highly anticipated album, Ziso. Slated for release on May 9, 2025, the album features seven inspiring tracks and a collaboration with fellow artist Pilot Mabato.

Hailing from Mbizo, Kwekwe, Minister Johnson has built a reputation for his soulful gospel tunes that resonate with audiences across Zimbabwe. The new album includes tracks such as Ziso, Vanotaura Mwari featuring Pilot Mabato, Zvinoda Kutendwa, Chitanda, Mweya Mutsvene, and Mutsvene Mutsvene.

Minister Johnson began his music career on October 21, 2022, initially releasing singles. “I have been working on music ever since then and have released 23 songs, including Hondo, Ndinovimba Nemi, and Mufudzi Wangu,” he said.

Driven by a strong spiritual vision, Minister Johnson says his mission is to glorify God and make Jesus known through his music. “My inspiration stems from real-life experiences, past and present, as well as the promise of a brighter future. I believe that certain aspects of life are better expressed through music,” he shared.

Despite his growing success, Minister Johnson acknowledges the challenges of marketing and management in the music industry.

“A great talent without proper management and sponsorship is like a seed lacking water; it cannot grow into a plant. I will continue to make music, pray, and work hard until I get recognized by sponsors and managers,” he said.

With his dedication and faith, Minister Johnson’s upcoming album is poised to inspire listeners and strengthen his place in Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene. Fans can look forward to an uplifting musical journey when Ziso drops in May.
