Kenville High excels with 100% A Level pass rate

By Staff Reporter

Kwekwe’s Kenville High School has cemented its reputation as a center of academic excellence, achieving an exceptional 100 percent pass rate in the 2024 Zimsec Advanced Level examinations. This remarkable milestone underscores the institution’s commitment to quality education and innovation.

Speaking on the achievement, Deputy Head Energy Mangwiro attributed the success to a dedicated team of highly qualified teachers, manageable class sizes, and a personalized approach to learning. “We believe that every child can learn, though not in the same way and at the same time. Our teacher-to-student ratio of 1:30 allows us to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each learner and provide tailored support,” he said.

Established in 2011 with just 12 students, Kenville High School has grown steadily over the years. Now in its 14th year, the school boasts a total enrollment of nearly 150 students. Despite its growth, Kenville High has maintained single-class streams to ensure individualized attention. “We aim to create an environment where all students can thrive. Our teachers are not only degreed professionals but also experts in their respective fields, which has been instrumental in producing consistent results above 90 percent in past years,” Mangwiro added.

In 2024, the school’s top-performing student, Paul Dhliwayo, scored an impressive 13 points, continuing a tradition of excellence set in 2023 when Tinashe Tshabalala achieved 15 points. The school’s Advanced Level curriculum encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including Sciences, Arts, and Commercials.

Beyond academic success, Kenville High School stands out as one of the few institutions in Kwekwe offering Hexco-accredited practical subjects. These include Computer Operations and Packages and Textile Designing and Agriculture under Zimsec exam board alongside an innovative fish farming project introduced in 2023. Students begin Hexco practicals as early as Form Three to avoid workload pressure in their final year. “We introduced these programs to cater to students with diverse abilities and skills. Our goal is to ensure every learner’s potential is fully realized,” Mangwiro explained.

Looking ahead, the school is on track to acquire a bus to enhance its facilities further. “This is part of our continuous effort to improve the learning experience and infrastructure for our students,” said Mangwiro.

With its holistic approach to education, combining academic rigor with practical skills training, Kenville High School is a beacon of hope for students in Kwekwe. “We are committed to nurture well-rounded individuals to ensure that graduates are not only academically competent but also equipped with practical skills for life beyond the classroom,” said Mangwiro.

As Zimsec Ordinary Level results trickle in since official release on Friday the school is yet to get actual figures but has surpassed the 70 percent mark.
