A 35-year-old man, Brian Tshuma, has been sentenced to two years in prison for brutally stabbing Prince Chinembiri (32) on the buttocks during an altercation at Tobesaba Compound on 20 January 2025.

The court heard that Tshuma attacked Chinembiri with a Colombian knife, stabbing him twice in the buttocks and three times on his legs. A medical report presented by Dr. Chandinofa detailed the severity of the injuries, describing them as deep wounds that could have resulted in permanent paralysis if Chinembiri had not received timely medical intervention.

Appearing before Magistrate Mildred Matuvi, Tshuma explained that the incident stemmed from unresolved issues between him and Chinembiri. Tshuma had reportedly chased Chinembiri’s siblings away from a shopping center and later sent a gang to confront them at their home.

On the day of the attack, Chinembiri approached Tshuma and his friends at Masaga Tuckshop to confront him about the earlier incidents. Tshuma claimed he attempted to resolve the matter by offering monetary compensation, but Chinembiri rejected the proposal, citing the financial setbacks caused by his hospital stay.

The court found Tshuma guilty of causing grievous bodily harm. Magistrate Matuvi emphasized the seriousness of the attack and its potential long-term consequences for the victim.

Tshuma was sentenced to two years in prison for his actions.
