A horrific case of domestic violence has rocked Kasamara Village in Gokwe South after a man brutally attacked his wife and killed his 4-year-old daughter with an axe over infidelity accusations.
Thomas Nyamadzawo (53) stormed into the bedroom where his wife, Eunice Mawisa (45), and their daughter, Precious Nyamadzawo (4), were sleeping on 19 February 2025. Enraged, he accused Eunice of being unfaithful and ordered her to leave. When she refused, an argument broke out, escalating into a violent attack.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
In a shocking act of cruelty, Nyamadzawo swung the back of the axe at the child, delivering a fatal blow to her head. Mawisa, also struck and severely injured, managed to escape with her daughter’s lifeless body and sought help from a neighbor.
“Nyamadzawo attempted to pursue them but was restrained by the neighbor. Later, he was found unconscious in a nearby bush after allegedly trying to end his own life by consuming a pesticide,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Police in Gokwe South are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the couple is receiving treatment for her injuries at Gokwe South District Hospital, where the child’s body is also being held in the mortuary.
