Advokate I set to unveil latest album

By Cordilia Ncube

In a world where music speaks louder than words, one rising star is ready to share his voice with the world. Meet Advokate I — born Gabriel Muchanyu — a singer-songwriter, messenger, entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed “People’s ADVOKATE – Gwetarevanhu from Africa.” With his new album, The Revelation, set to drop on April 25, Advokate I is poised to make his mark on the music scene.

Hailing from Torwood in Kwekwe, Muchanyu grew up immersed in the sounds of reggae and dancehall — influences that ignited a lifelong passion for music. His first studio experience was in 2014 at Manix Bros Studios, and since then, he has shared stages with legendary acts like the Zigzag Band of Chigiyo music fame.

His professional journey began in 2020 after connecting online with Don Franco Tafari, who mentored him into becoming a polished performer. That same year, Rebel Shumba joined his journey, helping with branding and artistic direction.

Now, after years of honing his craft, he’s ready to reveal his musical truth. The Revelation is a deeply personal album, a tapestry of raw emotions and untold stories. Of the tracks, one that stands out for him is “Ngoni,” a collaboration with emerging Torwood artist Samie G. “It’s a prayer. I was pleading with God to have mercy before I die — Mwari baba ndinzwireiwo ngoni ndisati ndavhara mboni,” he shared.

The album blends reggae with afrobeats, highlife, hardcore dancehall, and acoustic elements — offering something for everyone, locally and internationally.

With heartfelt lyrics and rich melodies, Advokate I’s music continues the advocacy he began in earlier singles like Zvinodhaka, which tackled drug abuse and promoted social responsibility.

As the launch date nears, Advokate I says he’s filled with confidence: “This is long overdue. I’m ready for the world to know who I am, what I represent, and where I’m going.”

The Revelation is more than just an album — it’s a powerful introduction to a voice of this generation.
