A 29-year-old man from Rutendo, Redcliff, Shepherd Moyo, has appeared in court after allegedly sending nude images of himself to a boy via WhatsApp.

The case was heard at the Kwekwe Magistrates Court and has been postponed to July 16, 2025, for trial.

According to court proceedings, the offence came to light when the boy arrived home late and told his father he had been at a WiFi hotspot downloading movies. Upon checking his phone, the father discovered explicit pictures and videos allegedly sent by Moyo and immediately reported the matter to the police.

It was revealed in court that both the accused and the boy attend the same church, Roman Catholic.

In his defence, Moyo claimed he was misled into believing he was communicating with a girl named Mercy after the boy allegedly initiated contact pretending to be female.
