Police in Midlands Province have arrested a 39-year-old man who had been on the run for several years over a string of violent crimes, including murder and attempted murder.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest of Goodhope Mahachi of Mbizo, Kwekwe, at Zhombe East Business Centre on 6 September 2025.
“Mahachi had been on the run for a long time. His luck ran out when a team of four police officers on patrol arrived at Zhombe East Business Centre conducting stop and searches. He tried several of his antics to resist arrest but was finally subdued and detained,” said Inspector Mahoko.
The fugitive has since been linked to multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, assault and malicious damage to property committed in Kwekwe District between 2018 and 2024.
Inspector Mahoko applauded the officers involved, describing the arrest as “high-profile,” and urged communities to remain alert.
“We reiterate our call for the general public to remain vigilant and on the lookout for criminal fugitives who may be in their midst targeting anything they can lay their hands on,” he said.
Mahachi is expected to appear in court soon to face charges.
