A 29-year-old man from Mbizo 8 has been fined for assaulting and strangling his elder sister following a dispute over money.
According to state papers, Niks Mutemaringa returned home around 1700hours, on 31 October 2025, and demanded money from his sister, Abigail Mutemaringa (36). When she failed to produce the money, an argument broke out.
During the altercation, Niks reportedly strangled Abigail with his bare hands and slapped her several times on the head.
In a statement to the police, Abigail said this was not the first time her brother had acted violently.
“This is his behaviour almost every day. I want the court to give him a punishment that will make him change,” she said.
Niks was ordered to pay a fine of US$100 by November 30, 2025, or serve one month in jail in default. An additional four-month sentence was suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence during that period.
