Kwekwe self styled prophet Simabyu Shiri (37) of Spring of Living Waters Church, Mbizo, Kwekwe is back in court facing charges of physically abusing his wife.
According to police reports the incident occurred on 22 February 2026 around 1100 hours at house number 511/4 Mbizo, Kwekwe.
Prophet Shiri made headlines in 2024 when he assaulted a congregant over gossip and was sentenced to 12 months in jail which was commuted to community service and was ordered not to commit a similar offence in a five year period.
On this particular case it is alleged that Shiri’s eight months pregnant wife, Trisha Samantha Maphosa (28) made a police report to the effect that she was physically assaulted by her husband, threatening to kill her and her unborn baby.
On the 26th day of February 2026, the complainant was admitted at a local hospital where he had a pre-term birth and the baby later died the following day.
Shiri was arrested and taken to court on the 27th day of February where he was remanded in custody to the 11th of March 2026.
Complainant was discharged from the hospital.
