Daring armed robbers pounced on Doves Funeral Services, Kwekwe on Friday night getting away with property worth US$410, police has confirmed.

Police has launched a manhunt for a five-member gang that attacked funeral services company and got away with property worth US$410 after assaulting workers and security guards.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident which occurred in the early hours of 24 October 2025 at around 0100hours.

“Property worth US$410 was lost when a five-man gang armed with iron bars and axes pounced on the funeral services company in Kwekwe,” said Inspector Mahoko.

He said the gang gained entry into the company premises by jumping over a precast wall before ambushing two security guards and three workers who were on duty.

“They started beating the victims with axe handles and iron bars while demanding to know where the company’s cash was kept,” he said.

The suspects then tied the victims’ hands and legs before ransacking them and stealing three cellphones — a Huawei Y9, a G-Tel Delta, and a Samsung A06 — all valued at US$410, before fleeing the scene.

Inspector Mahoko urged members of the public with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station.

“We are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach the police,” he said.

Police have since intensified patrols and investigations in a bid to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen property.
