All roads lead to Gulez Gardens, Kwekwe today where big names in the music industry will take stage in a memorial gig for the late music icon Bob Nyabinde who died in December last year.
Amongst the top names is Steve Makoni a celebrated artist, song writer and solo guitarist who made fame with songs like Handiende, Dhongi, Johnie and Zvachonyana amongst many others.
Makoni will share the stage with Victor Kunonga an Afro jazz singer who rose to fame with Kure Kwatakabva, Maidarirei which speaks against child abuse and Usacheme.
Kwekwe’s award winning artists Bantuman I and Terry Bliss will also perform at the event. Bantu has always kept fans on their feet with his song Magunje whilst Terry a 2012 Chibuku Road to Fame winner will be paying his respect to Nyabinde whom he used to play the bass guitar for.
Terry also made a stint with the late Oliver Mtukudzi.
Another local artist who has perfected his act Trevor the One is set to serenade fans at the show.
The memorial will be star studded with Kireni Zulu of the Mazai Adhimba fame will be performing. Mono Mukundu will also come to the stage to give fans a good time.
Nyabinde’s sons Agga and Albert who are following in their father’s footsteps will also be in performance in memory of their father.
The late Nyabinde a former headmaster at RJ Davies Primary in Redcliff made fame through jazz music in the early 2000s. He released Panenyaya which had the famous song Chabuda Hapana and went on to release songs like Zvinoita Hope, Kusangana, Teerera, Zvipingaidzo, Samanyika and Rudo.
