A Kwekwe man lost his vehicle to thieves at PG Complex, Kwekwe on 8 December 2024 after he had left keys on ignition whilst he went into a grocery shop.
According to Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the complainant, Tapiwa Pedro Zulu (42) of Kwekwe, parked his grey Honda Fit, registration number AFI 3425, at the PG Complex opposite the commuter rank at around 2000hours.
“He switched off the motor vehicle but left the car keys in the ignition and went into a nearby shop. Some yet unknown person took advantage and drove away the motor vehicle,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Upon returning, Zulu discovered that his vehicle, valued at USD $4,000, was missing. He promptly reported the incident at Kwekwe Central Police Station.
Inspector Mahoko emphasized the importance of motorists taking precautions to prevent such incidents.
“We are urging motorists to ensure that they lock their cars and take the keys with them when going away. We are also appealing for information that may assist in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen motor vehicle,” he said.
The ZRP is appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the nearest police station.
