CCC dominates Kwekwe, Redcliff council

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councilors currently dominate Kwekwe and Redcliff Municipalities.

Kwekwe has 14 councillors with 12 belonging to CCC and only two from Zanu PF.

Alex Senge (Ward 1), Murapiro Albert (Ward 2), Msipa Pikurai (Ward 3), Tagara Joseph (ward 4), Melody Chingarande (Ward 5), Gwamuri Milton (Ward 7), Simon Machisvo (Ward 9), Madzorera Henry (Ward 10), Panyika Nyika (Ward 11), Thomas Mahapa (Ward 12), Alphonce Mugwagwa (Ward 13) and Albert Zinhanga (Ward 14) made it ingto Kwekwe City Council after winning against Zanu PF and other independent candidates in the 23 August harmonised elections.

Only two Zanu PF candidates Makomborero Edu Mlambo who retained his seat in Ward 8 and newcomer Mugabe Courage (Ward 6) made it into council.

Only one female candidate Chingarande was elected back it into the local authority, a glaring gap in the participation of women in leadership positions.

Four other women made it through proportional representation that is SIziwe Ncube (CCC), Dieless Muradzikwa (Zanu PF) and Helena Mkosana a former deputy mayor together with Janet Ticharunga a former councilor made it through under the CCC ticket.

In Redcliff all nine councilors were elected under the CCC ticket that is Mutero Blessing Godwin Sibanda, Vincent Shangwa Masiiwa who makes a comeback together with Clayton Masiyatsva, Fortunate Makava,   Thokozani Ndebele, Luckmore Chakanetsa, Godfrey Munikwa and Willard Makonese.

Tecla Keti, Josephine Mutamangira and Locadia Mukwapuna of Zanu PF made it through women’s quota.
