Staff Reporter

Midlands Province traditional leaders, Chief Ngungumbane and Chief Chireya were nominated as senator chiefs who will represent the province in the senate.

The chiefs were nominated today by 31 fellow chiefs in the province who constituted the electoral college with Chief Ngungumbane garnering 17 votes, Chireya nine votes, Chief Gwesela with four votes, and Chief Ntabeni with one vote.

Chief Ngungumbane becomes the Provincial Council Chairperson whilst Chief Chireya deputises him.

In an interview Chief Ngungumbane said he was honored and overjoyed by the nomination.

“I am humbled, moved, and overjoyed by the support and confidence that the chiefs have shown in me. It’s not that I am a fountain of knowledge but other better people in that college could have done that job but their support means chiefs are happy with the work we are doing and we will do better.

As we move forward we will be servants of the chiefs and act according to their instructions and represent their views in the Senate,” said Chief Ngungumbane.
