Kick-off is scheduled for 1500 hours, with the match expected to draw huge crowds as top-flight football returns to the mining town after years in the wilderness.
The fixture pits two ambitious clubs bankrolled by wealthy businessmen Hardrock owned by Kwekwe gold magnate Shepherd Magodora and Scotland FC under the stewardship of businessman Scot Sakupwanya.
For many local football fans, the match signals the rebirth of elite football in the city, which last enjoyed Premier Soccer League action during the glory days of Lancashire Steel Football Club at Baghdad Stadium.
Hardrock, coached by Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu, has assembled a competitive squad blending local talent and international recruits as they seek to make an early statement in the league.
The team boasts players such as Washington Navaya, Junior Makunike and Donald Mudadi, alongside foreign signings Neliswa Dlamini, Sambulo Simelane and Andrew Phiri.
Their opponents Scotland FC will be equally formidable under the guidance of experienced coach Norman Mapeza.
The club has also strengthened its technical setup by appointing Zimbabwe football legend Peter Ndlovu as team manager, a move expected to add experience and leadership to the side.
