Kwekwe City Council has purchased an ambulance to boost its health services.

The ambulance worth US$63 000 was bought at Croco Motors together with a four and half tonne truck set to boost the works department.

The chairperson of the health and environment councilor Eric Rukavhairo said the ambulance is a major boost to the local authority’s health services.

“This will boost our health services as our patients can get help faster and we will not respond late to emergencies as we have increased our fleet of ambulances,”  he said.

He added that the ambulance will complement the local authority’s move to provide health services to the residents as they are currently refurbishing and building a new clinic.

“We have a new advanced clinic that is being built and as a result, ambulances also need to be added,” added Rukavhairo.

Finance Chairperson Silas Mukaro said he expresses gratitude to the ratepayers who made the purchase possible.

“I would like to thank our ratepayers who made this purchase possible as we used council coffers,” he said.
