Some houses were destroyed with rooftops being blown away by gusts of winds which preceded the storm.

In an interview Mbizo member of parliament Corban Madzivanyika said the damage is extensive and has affected almost all sections in Mbizo.

Madzivanyika said he has been inundated with requests from residents who have no shelter and food supplies.

“I have had many residents coming to me requesting for help. I have visited sections 17, 2 and 21 in Mbizo and have seen that the damage is extensive. Almost every section has been affected. We are running around to see how we can assist,” he said.

Madzivanyika said central government should intervene to provide basic shelter to the affected.

“I have heard that other places like Silobela and Gokwe have been affected and this is a regional disaster which needs government to intervene.

Central government should take part to assist the people who have lost their shelters. Right now these people have no food as it was destroyed by the rains. Urgent assistance is needed,” he said.
