A fight over a commercial sex worker at Beauty Mine Cocktail Bar booking houses in Mberengwa ended in the death of one of the clients on 2 January 2024 at around 0100 hours.
Midlands Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Farai Mapuranga (24) collapsed and died after being stoned and stabbed by two men following a misunderstanding over a sex worker.

“It is alleged, that Farai Mapuranga (24) had an altercation with another man, Simbarashe Chirume (21) over a lady of the night. Chirume manhandled Mapuranga. Another man only known as Elliot emerged from one of the booking rooms, picked a stone, and struck Farai Mapuranga twice on the head.

Chirume produced an okapi knife and stabbed the same victim twice before running away. Mapuranga walked for about 80 meters before he collapsed and died,” he said.

ZRP Mberengwa attended the scene and Simbarashe Chirume was arrested and is assisting police with investigations. The body was taken to Zvishavane District Hospital Mortuary.

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects in the two cases to approach any police station,” said Mahoko.
