Former deputy mayor Mkosana dies

Kwekwe former deputy mayor Helena Mkosana who had bounced back into council through proportional representation has died.

Mkosana died at Kwekwe General Hospital early today after battling colon cancer.

Kwekwe Mayor Albert Zinhanga confirmed the death saying it was a loss for the city.

“I have learnt with utter disbelief of the untimely passing on of champion councillor Helena Mkosana who was women’s quota representative for Kwekwe City Council. She passed on early this morning and Kwekwe City has lost a dedicated representative of the people. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.

Mkosana deputised the late mayor Shadreck Tobaiwa between 2008 and 2013.

Mourners are gathered at her home in Mbizo and burial is expected to take place at Msasa Cemetery on Saturday.
