Four armed men robbed an Afdis Depot in Kwekwe and got away with cash us$18 000 on 25 May 2024 at about 0150 hours.

According to Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko on the fateful night, Tsungai Marariromba (50) was on a guard duty at Afdis depot, Kwekwe, when he was approached by four men. They disarmed him of his service Pistol and went on to tie his legs and hands using shoe laces. “They went to a truck which was parked in the company yard and ordered the driver to disembark. They force marched the driver to the guard room where they also tied his hands and legs with shoe laces.

One of the intruders was left guarding the two employees while the other three went and broke the manager’s residence door using an iron bar and gained entry into the house,” said Mahoko.

Mahoko said they demanded for office keys from the manager, a female aged 39 before forcemarching her to the offices where she was forced to open the offices.

“Inside the office they blasted the safe and took cash amounting to US$18 000 and went away,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko appealed to members of the public to help in the arrest of the robbers.

“We appeal to members of the public for information that can help in arresting culprits behind the robbery. We also urge companies and individuals not to keep large sums of money at their premises to avoid similar loses,” he said.
