A fight between two rival gold panner gangs known as Magrigamba and Ziga at Battlefields area, Kadoma ended in tragedy following the death of a 40 year old woman Matron Mpofu on 9 August 2024.

Police confirmed the incident noting that 27 suspects were arrested in connection with the death of the woman which is being treated as murder and public violence.

According to police the two rival groups, identified as Ziga and Magrigamba, clashed resulting in the death of a woman, Mpofu, destruction of shacks  and two vehicles at Matigimu compound. Various household goods, including clothes, furniture and cellphones were set on fire.
