Gweru name changing killer remanded in custody

A Gweru killer who changed names two times in Eswatini and Ireland to evade the long arm of the law has been remanded in custody to 17 April 2024 by Magistrate Beaulity Dube today.

Peter Dube who gunned down Kwekwe Socialite and his wife’s friend sometime in April 2021 was arrested yesterday when he landed at Robert Mugabe International Airport following his deportation from Ireland and eventually Mozambique for identity misrepresentation.

A heavy police presence was observed today at Gweru Central Police where Dube was detained for questioning before he appeared before the courts.

He is facing three counts of murder and another one of attempted murder.

Dube after  shooting Shelton Chinhango, Gamuchirai Madungwe and his wife!’s sister fled to South Africa, then Eswatini where he changed his identity to Xolile Mtsali.

Using the fake identity card he sought asylum in Ireland where he was arrested and extradited to Mozambique after alleging that he was a citizen of that country named Armando Quenete Muchanga.
