Kwekwe Polytechnic held its inaugural staff excellence awards on 13 November 2024, recognizing 113 staff members for their outstanding contributions to the institution.

The awards, which acknowledged both academic and administrative staff, celebrated excellence across all divisions, departments, and sections of the college.

Speaking at the ceremony, college Principal Evans Musara highlighted the importance of acknowledging achievements and fostering a culture of excellence within the institution.

“It is a time to sit down and self-introspect on where we are coming from, where we are currently, and where we intend to go. While we may not have achieved everything, we have excelled in certain areas. These achievements, no matter how small, are worthy of celebration. They are a result of both individual and collective efforts,” said Musara.

The awards were designed to honor staff who excelled in alignment with the institution’s strategic goals, including fulfilling the five pillars of Heritage-Based Education 5.0 and advancing Kwekwe Polytechnic’s strategic plan. Musara emphasized the need to encourage and incentivize hard work among staff as the college looks toward 2025.

“The main objectives of this event are to recognize, acknowledge, and reward excellence while encouraging staff to continue striving for distinction in their work,” he added.

The event marked a significant milestone for Kwekwe Polytechnic, which aims to build on this year’s success in future editions. Musara noted that the institution remains committed to maintaining its status as a center of excellence in technopreneurial education, with a focus on heavy electrical and mechanical engineering.

Musara urged stakeholders from the private and public sectors to collaborate with the college in various value chains, including agriculture, mining, and industry-based research.

“It is us together who make Kwekwe, Zimbabwe, and Africa at large great,” he said.
