A section of residents in Kwekwe’s different suburbs were left in the open following a violent storm that hit the city early morning today around 0100hours.

The storm which had violent gusts of wind blew off rooftops of some houses in Mbizo Sections 5, 9, 4 extension, 15, Golden Acres area, Rutendo, Amaveni.

The Metereological Services Department of Zimbabwe yesterday said Kwekwe recorded the highest rainfall of 23mm second after Matopos which had 32mm. The department through its X (formely twitter) platform  says more thunderstorms accompanied by wind gusts and lightning should be expected.
