Former  Ward 9 councillor Simon Machisvo who filed his nomination papers under Citizens Coalition for Change in December to contest in the February 3, 2024 by election has been barred together with 23 others from contesting.

Machisvo was seeking reelection into Kwekwe City Council after he was recalled by CCC self appointed interim Secretary General Sengezo  Tshabangu who filed papers in the High Court recently seeking to bar 23 candidates whom he claimed ceased to be CCC members.

High Court Judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda this afternoon ordered the names of the 23 including Machisvo be removed from the 3 February 2024 ballot as they are no longer allowed to contest using CCC credentials.

Machisvo who was seeking reelection had also faced a double candidate Proud Ndhlovu of CCC who also filed papers to contest in the same Ward for the coming by election.
