Man dies in machete attack

A 46-year-old Silobela man died on admission at Kwekwe District Hospital after he was attacked by machetes at Simana Business Centre, Silobela on 22 January 2024 at around 1600 hours.

Tinashe Manyeruke of Village Batanai Chief Ruya, Silobela was given a lift from Crossroads Business Centre going home. On approaching Simana Business Centre the driver Ben Gara (68) stopped to buy groceries.

Manyeruke remained seated that is when two men Menelisi Ncube and Vitalis Ndlovu both of Village Simana Chief Malisa allegedly approached him armed with machetes accusing him of having assaulted their brother sometime in December 2023. Sensing danger he jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run away but the two men caught up with him. They assaulted him all over the body using a machete and Colombian knife before leaving him lying on the ground bleeding profusely.

The matter was reported to the Police who attended the scene and took Manyeruke to Kwekwe District Hospital where he died on admission.

Police appeal to members of the public who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the alleged attackers.
