Man killed over sex worker

A 33-year-old man from Mandipezano Homestead in the Driefontein area died after he was fatally assaulted following a misunderstanding over a sex worker on 15 November 2024.

Casper Mhari died on admission at Muonde Hospital in Driefontein.

According to Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, Mhari was drinking beer with Evans Shonhiwa (36) of Chaka, Chirumhanzu, and the suspect, Marshal Shiri (33) of Nyumbi 1 Village, Driefontein, when a misunderstanding arose over a lady of the night.

“A misunderstanding broke out, leading Marshal Shiri to strike Casper Mhari three times on the head with a log. Mhari fell unconscious and was rushed to Muonde Hospital, where he later died,” said Inspector Mahoko.

Shiri fled the scene after the incident and is currently on the run. Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.

“We are keen to question Marshal Shiri regarding this matter and appeal to anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward,” Inspector Mahoko said.

Authorities are urging the public to report any leads to their nearest police station as investigations continue.
