Matsa rejects council perks

Solomon Matsa, the newly elected Kwekwe City Councillor for Ward 10, has made a bold statement saying he prioritizes community welfare over personal benefits associated with his position.

In a recent declaration today on the sidelines of his swearing-in ceremony, Matsa emphasized his commitment to giving back to the people.

“During my term of office, I will give back to the people the benefits that I will be given as a councilor. If I am given benefits I will plough back so that it is channeled towards service delivery,” he said.

This stance reflects a departure from the typical narrative of self-interest often associated with political roles, as Matsa chooses to focus on serving the community rather than personal gain.

Matsa’s dedication to community welfare mirrors that of former Mayor Matenda Madzoka, who famously urged the council not to prioritize extravagant expenditures such as a mayoral vehicle during his term of office.

Matsa  said his pledge to reinvest any benefits received from the council back into community initiatives and projects underscores his commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of his constituents.

“I am looking forward to a better service delivery and prioritizing what our people want. We want people to live a better life and have their wishes fulfilled,” he said.
