He was remanded in custody to 4 May 2026 as prosecutors pressed ahead with a case that has sent shockwaves through the Midlands community.
Prosecutors allege Mutangi sexually abused two underage girls and committed aggravated sexual offences against five underage boys in incidents said to have occurred over a period of time.
The accused had reportedly been on the run before his arrest on 21 April 2026 following a police operation.
According to state papers, the matter came to light on 19 April 2026 after one of the juveniles confided in an informant about the alleged abuse.
Court documents further allege that in December 2024, during the night, Mutangi called one of the complainants to his room, gave him a mobile phone to watch pornographic videos, before allegedly committing a sexual assault.
Midlands Acting Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Modilias Zivuku said investigations revealed a pattern of repeated abuse involving the complainant.
Authorities say the case fully unravelled when another incident involving a bicycle pump dispute triggered revelations from one of the complainants, who later disclosed the alleged abuse.
The trial is expected to continue as police warn that investigations are ongoing.
