Gweru: The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a Chinese national and his Zimbabwean employee following a violent altercation over a labour dispute that was captured in a video and circulated widely on social media.
In a press release on Thursday, ZRP Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the incident occurred on January 21, 2025, at Bijour Farm in Lower Gweru.
“Kholwani Dube (31) stabbed a Chinese national with an okapi knife on the leg after a labour dispute, while the Chinese national pointed a firearm at Kholwani Dube. Both the Zimbabwean and Chinese national are facing criminal charges,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
The video, which has drawn widespread attention and sparked heated debate on social media, shows the two individuals engaged in a physical confrontation.The incident has ignited discussions about labour relations and tensions between locals and foreign investors in Zimbabwe.
