A 46 year old man, Gracious Gava from Alarm 2 Mine has appeared at the Kwekwe Magistrates Court pleading guilty of sexually assaulting his girlfriend .

The court heard that on 3 September 2025 at Alarm 2 Compound, Kwekwe, Gava met with his girlfriend Sphiwe Mpofu (42) in the bushes and asked to have sexual intercourse with her and she refused. This infuriated Gava and he slapped his girlfriend once on the cheek.

Gava pleaded guilty to the charges and stated that it was a moment of weakness that pushed him to hit his girlfriend. However Mpofu requested for a peace order against Gava.

Magistrate Mildred Matuvi sentenced Gava to  8months imprisonment of which 3 months were suspended on condition he does not commit same crime for the next 5years.

The remaining five months were suspended on condition he performs 105hrs of community service at Amaveni Clinic from 8 October 2025.
