A 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed to death during a violent altercation at Mutemarongo Tuck Shop in Mutemarongo Village under Chief Nemangwe on 7 August, 2024, around 2100 hours.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, reported that the deceased, Alfred Kamambo, was involved in a confrontation with a 17-year-old suspect, Tinashe Katsikadova. Both men reside in Mutemarongo Village and had previously worked together in gold panning in Battlefields, Kadoma.

The conflict reportedly began when Kamambo confronted Katsikadova at the tuck shop regarding a failed delivery of a cellphone and money that Katsikadova had allegedly been entrusted with for Kamambo’s wife. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation after Katsikadova’s response angered Kamambo.

During the fight, Katsikadova initially fled but returned armed with a catapult. Kamambo then produced an okapi knife, intending to stab Katsikadova. In the ensuing struggle, Katsikadova managed to disarm Kamambo and used the knife to stab him multiple times in the chest, shoulder, and left ribs. Kamambo succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police from ZRP Gokwe responded promptly, leading to Katsikadova’s arrest. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Inspector Mahoko urged the public to resolve disputes through peaceful means to avoid such tragic outcomes.
