The two Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists who were facing charges of holding an unsanctioned rally in July this year were ordered to pay a US$300 fine each or spend 3 months behind bars after they were found guilty of carrying out an unsanctioned procession in July this year.
The sentence was passed yesterday by Kwekwe Magistrate Mildred Matuvi with a heavy police presence at the court.
The duo of Nkosilathi Emmanuel Moyo and Albert Marashe was facing charges of contravening Section 7 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (MOPA).
The pair was arrested in July after holding an unsanctioned procession in Mbizo.
Moyo and Marashe were part of the team carrying out a procession in Mbizo leading to the arrest.
