Worker dies buried under Chrome fines at Zimasco

A worker at Chinese-owned company Tiahao, operating from the Zimasco West Plant in Kwekwe, tragically died early this morning after he was buried under a heap of chrome fines.

The incident occurred shortly after the man, a CAT tipper operator, whose name is being withheld, reported for duty at around 0630hours. Sources at the plant said the accident happened around 0700hours.

It is said he was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival

Authorities are yet to release full details of the incident, but investigations are already underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

    If we keep keeping quiet when these people keep killing our brothers,our son’s,our husbands and our friends, they will all perish. Something must be done about these poor working conditions. Is EMA still operating or they are closed. We want justice for our brother.this has been happening for some time now… People being held at gun point. So these Chinese guys abuse us in our own country .. I am so sad
