A 28-year-old man was killed in a violent attack at Makata Bar, Mushange Business Centre, Zhombe, on the night of 13 March 2025.
ZRP Midlands spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Shepherd Mavhangira of Mahundi Village, Chief Samambwa, Zhombe.
“It is alleged that the now deceased was drinking beer outside Makata Bar in the company of friends and other bar patrons when the suspects launched an unprovoked attack,” said Inspector Mahoko.
The four suspects, identified as Kenias Mapfumo, Armstrong Marumahoko, Mathias Tatenda Dhlamini, and an unidentified man, all of Mahundi Village, Chief Samambwa, allegedly picked up bricks and stones and began indiscriminately throwing them at the crowd.
“Shepherd Mavhangira was struck by the missiles and died on the spot,” Inspector Mahoko stated.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to members of the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, who are currently on the run.
“We urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station,” said Inspector Mahoko.
The ZRP continues to urge communities to resolve disputes amicably and refrain from violence. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
