Mbudhlo cautions opportunists in DCC elections

By Staff Reporter

Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Owen ‘Mbudhlo’  Ncube, has issued a stern warning to Zanu-PF supporters in Gokwe South District to remain vigilant against opportunists as the District Coordinating Committee (DCC) elections draw near.

Addressing attendees at a ‘thank you rally’ held in Gokwe South district recently, Cde Ncube, who also serves as the Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial Secretary for Security, emphasized the need for unity within the party amidst the impending elections.

“The term of DCC members expired last year, and fresh elections will soon be conducted by the ruling party. However, we’ve noticed certain individuals emerging solely to vie for positions within the DCCs, despite their absence during campaign periods. Such actions can sow unnecessary confusion within the party, and we will not tolerate it,” he said.

He urged them to cast their votes for individuals who played pivotal roles in securing victory for the party during the 2023 harmonized elections.

“You must support those who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the party cause, especially during the campaigns that led to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s resounding victory. Gokwe South witnessed overwhelming support for our President and the party, which secured victories across all five constituencies,” Ncube reiterated.

Ahead of the DCC elections, the party has underscored the importance of reinforcing its structure through cell, branch, and district restructuring exercises.

“We must prioritize strengthening our party from the grassroots level. Every effort should be directed towards reinforcing our cells and branches across all 123 districts in Gokwe South. No individual is greater than the party, and our allegiance should always be to the party’s collective interests,” he said.
