Panic at Manunure High: Pupils faint in tear smoke release

Staff Reporter

Chaos erupted at Manunure High School yesterday as a pupil (name withheld) unleashed tear smoke/gas in class from a canister, leaving other students choking.

Reports from sources indicate that some pupils fainted while others struggled to breathe after the incident.

Kwekwe Schools District Inspector Herbert Maziriri could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was unreachable, and Manunure School Head Madokudya was evasive when contacted by this publication.

However, the School Development Committee Vice Chairperson, Councillor Tapiwa Muganhu, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, there was an incident at the school. I heard that four pupils were heavily affected and fainted after their colleague allegedly released smoke from an unknown container suspected to be pepper spray.”
