Robbers terrorise Gweru residents

A marauding seven men gang of robbers is terrorising Gweru residents in Hertfordshire and Brakenhurst suburbs.

The gang according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police have so far committed seven robbery cases at different houses during one night.

Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the gang robbed occupants of various items of property with a total value of USD $779.

“The incidencies occurred on 7 May 2024, from around 2100 hours onwards, in Brakenhurst and Hertfordshare suburbs, Gweru.
It is alleged, the seven men were armed with axes, machetes and metal rods. They invaded Brakenhurst and Hertfordshire residential areas, forced entries into houses and assaulted their victims using machetes and iron rods while demanding money and other valuables,” he said.

Mahoko said they took away four jackets, one itel cell phone, one nokia cell phone and cash all valued at USD $779.00.

“They also took away a set of keys for a Toyota corolla motor vehicle belonging to one of the complainants,” he said.
Police isappealing for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and or recovery of the stolen property.
